Newcastle Falcons head coach Alan Tait has praised prop Jon Golding following his England call-up for the tour to Australia and New Zealand in June.

Golding will also be in line to figure in the Barbarians game at Twickenham on May 30, and Tait believes international recognition has been long coming.

"Jon's call-up is fully deserved given the form he has been in for us this season," said Tait.

"He fully merits his place in Martin Johnson's squad for the tour."

He added: "He would probably have been in line for some form of international rugby back in February had it not been for an untimely injury, but he's on the mend now."

Golding signed a two-year extension to his deal at Kingston Park in March 2009.
