Newcastle Falcons prop Jon Golding has agreed a two-year contract extension at the Guinness Premiership club. The 26-year-old has made 62 appearances in three seasons at Kingston Park since signing from Rotherham. The England Saxons cap, who has scored five tries in 18 outings this season, said: "This has been a massive decision for me. "Newcastle is a club with great ambition at the moment. We are making progress all the time." Director of rugby Steve Bates added: "We have worked extremely hard as a club these past few weeks to keep Jon on board because his recent outstanding performances have alerted a number of other sides. | I now feel he is well placed to take that starting loose-head berth and push on for higher honours |
"I'm absolutely delighted that he is buying in to our vision for this club and I see Jon as being a key component in our future plans with the way he is developing in to a top-class loose-head. "He is a local lad who has made very steady progress in each of the three years he has been with us. "I now feel he is well placed to take that starting loose-head berth and push on for higher honours."
