Wilson pens two-year Falcons deal

Newcastle flanker Brent Wilson has become the latest of Steve Bates' squad to agree a new deal at Kingston Park.

The New Zealand Sevens international, 27, joins team-mates Ed Williamson and Jon Golding in signing a two-year-deal and is settled in the North East.

"I'm loving my time at Newcastle, we have a great bunch of boys here and everyone is working hard to keep us progressing as a club," he said.

"Myself and my family really enjoy living in the area."

With 12 tries in 78 starts, including two in the Falcons' last four matches, Wilson has become a key figure in the club's attacking outlet.

And Bates believes the former North Harbour man is a integral member of his squad, on and off the field.

"Brent gives us real pace in the back row, his personal skills are excellent and he is a fantastic team player," said Bates.

"His dynamism and try-scoring ability have been vital for us this season, he is settled in the area and I'm delighted that we have been able to extend his stay for at least another two years."
