Leeds Carnegie head to France for pre-season

Leeds

Leeds Carnegie have confirmed their pre-season programme, which will included matches against French, Welsh, Irish and English opposition.

A week-long training camp in France will be followed by their first warm-up match against Agen on 6 August.

Eight days later, Leeds will play their only game at Headingley against The Ospreys on 14 August.

The home tie is then followed by trips to Doncaster on 20 August and Ulster on 26 August.

Director of rugby Andy Key said: "We are really pleased with the schedule we have been able to devise.

"We are playing against some quality opposition and that will stand us in good stead for when the new Premiership season begins.

"Our training camp in France will be an important part of our pre-season programme and we found last year that it was useful to have a game at the end of that period.

"We had two tough games with the Ospreys last season. It is fantastic that we will have the Magners League Champions at Headingley Carnegie and hopefully we can attract a good crowd to see both teams in action.

"The game against Doncaster will be very important for us as it comes two weeks before the season starts before we go through our final preparations against Ulster in Belfast."

Meanwhile it has been confirmed the fixtures for the new Premiership season will be released on Tuesday, 29 June at 1600 BST.
