Andy Gomarsall asks Leeds Carnegie fans for support

Andy Gomarsall has pleaded with the Yorkshire public to get to Headingley on Sunday and help Leeds Carnegie claim a vital win over Leicester Tigers.

The defending champions travel to Headingley with Leeds still looking for their first Premiership home victory of the season.

"We need great support for this game," the scrum-half told BBC Radio Leeds.

"We've had some fantastic support from our loyal fans this year but we need even more to get down and support us."

Leeds remain rooted to the bottom of the Premiership table after just two league wins against Wasps and Newcastle.

"We need everyone to get behind us because we all want and need Premiership rugby in Yorkshire," explained Gomarsall.

"It's a massive game against Leicester, they are a great side and we will be huge underdogs. But we know we can win and the fans have a big part to play in that."

The West Yorkshire side have won just three times on home soil this season, all of which came in cup competitions, while the last time the side won a Premiership game at Headingley was in March 2008.

"We are not losing confidence about our home record because we know we are nearly there with it.

"It's frustrating we've not won at home in the league yet but we are determined to put that right. We need to make the place a fortress and make it very intimating," Gomarsall added.

"It's more about the mental side because maybe we have put too much pressure on ourselves when playing at Headingley and maybe we are trying to hard.

"On Sunday we just need to focus on our performance and not the result and if we do that we know potentially we can beat any team."

BBC Radio Leeds 774 AM & online has exclusive commentary of Sunday's game from 1400 GMT.
