Leeds are set to be without full-back Leigh Hinton for the next two months after injuring his shoulder.

A scan revealed the 30-year-old had damaged his AC joint during Tuesday night's pre-season victory over French side Aurillac.

Leeds head coach Neil Back said: "We are disappointed for Leigh.

"At this stage it would appear that he does not need an operation but the injury will be assessed by a specialist when we return home at the weekend."

Back added: "Hopefully it will recover with a period of rehabilitation but in the meantime we will use Leigh's expertise to help the coaching and management team in our preparations for the new season."

Leeds beat French second division side Aurillac 19-14 in their first pre-season game, which forms part of the two-match Issoire Tournament.

The West Yorkshire side led 19-0 just before half time thanks to three tries.

Young centre Luther Burrell, who is due to join Rotherham on loan next season, scored one and set up the other two, which were scored by Hinton and scrum-half Joe Bedford.

Director of rugby Andy Key said: ""I was delighted with the young players especially. I thought Luther Burrell did an outstanding job but I was really proud of all the players.

We crafted three good quality tries and could have perhaps had a couple more but we will settle for a good solid performance for our first hit out

"It was difficult for us as we went into the game with a regulation 22- man squad whilst Aurillac played two different teams in each half however I was really pleased with how we overcame that challenge.

"We crafted three good quality tries and could have perhaps had a couple more but we will settle for a good solid performance for our first hit out.

Of Leeds' six new signings only back-row Alfie To'oala played.

Fellow new recruits Marco Wentzel, Gareth Hardy and Ceiron Thomas are all set to appear against Montauban on Friday evening.

"Alfie looked really strong, as we knew he would be from his performances with Bristol in recent years.

"He took the ball up well for us and produced some thundering tackles on defence.

"The other new guys had a team run today and they will feature on Friday against Montauben."

BBC Radio Leeds will have full match commentary of every Leeds Guinness Premiership game and Anglo-Welsh Cup matches, plus home European games.
