Cox has played for England at under 18s, 19s and 20s level
Gloucester back row forward Matt Cox insists he is enjoying pre-season at his new club.
The 22-year-old joined from Worcester at the end of last season in the first move of his professional career.
"I had a few nerves because I've never really changed clubs before," Cox told BBC Radio Gloucestershire.
"You wonder what the boys will be like, the coaches if they'll like you, what's the training like, if you'll cope, but to be fair I'm really enjoying it."
At 6ft 3ins Cox is tall enough to play across the back row, but young enough to find his specialist position.
But Cox will have to fight for his place as he will be competing against internationals like Andy Hazell, Akapusi Qera, Alasdair Strokosch and Luke Narraway, as well as Peter Buxton and Brett Deacon.
He is more than happy to play in different roles in a bid to prove his doubters wrong.
"They want me to practice all three positions and then eventually nail me to a position so I'm going for all three places in a way," said Cox.
"You can learn a lot from some of these boys, they've been in the Premiership for a while, they know what they're on about.
"I'm happy fighting for my position as well as they're fighting for theirs and hopefully upset a few predictions."
