Gareth Delve admits Gloucester future is 'clear as mud'

Welsh international Gareth Delve has admitted he is not sure if he will be at Kingsholm next season.

The 27-year-old's position has come under close scrutiny since Gloucester signed Brett Deacon from Leicester.

Asked about his future, Delve told BBC Gloucestershire: "It's clear as mud and I'd like things to be sorted out.

"Ideally I'd love to stay. I get on well with all the players and it's a fantastic club but at this moment I'm unsure if I will be here or not."

Delve's contract at Kingsholm expires this summer and as he continues to discuss the potential of a new deal, he says players on fixed-term contracts have to take a firm approach in any negotiations.

"This is my living and I need to be as professional as I can about it. I am looking to work things out with the club.

"Obviously there are one or two issues to be ironed out but I if play well hopefully it will benefit the team and benefit me in the long run."

The departure of Xavier Rush from Cardiff Blues to Ulster at the end of the season has left a gap for a number eight at Delve's home city club, with a move back to Wales likely to enhance his international chances.
