McGeechan coached the Lions during their series defeat in South Africa |
Premiership side Gloucester have announced that British & Irish Lions coach Sir Ian McGeechan is to join the club in an advisory capacity. McGeechan will link up with his former Scotland charge, Gloucester manager Bryan Redpath, in a role he says is "a terrific challenge". "Gloucester as a club really do have so much potential," he said. The team are in ninth place in the Guinness Premiership and are in the last eight of the Amlin Challenge Cup. Redpath told BBC Radio Gloucestershire: "It's an advisory role to myself and to the board. | I've already been around the training ground and met everyone, and can't wait to get started |
"He doesn't want to get massively involved with the coaching, it's more to get involved with my development. "He wants to make sure I am on the right track and doing the right things, and hopefully we can benefit from it." McGeechan has also served as director of rugby at Wasps and Northampton. "I'm very excited to be involved. I've already been around the training ground and met everyone, and can't wait to get started," he added.
