Attwood joined Gloucester from Bristol last summer |
Dave Attwood believes the Gloucester players must show more belief in the coming weeks after his last-gasp try saved a 13-13 draw with Worcester. The lock opened his account for the club in the last minute on Saturday. He told BBC Gloucestershire: "It looked like we were a bit timid at times. We had plenty of opportunities but couldn't make the most of them. "There we were with five minutes to go still chasing the game. We can't afford that if we're to climb the table." Attwood came on as a replacement after being left out of the starting 15 following an indifferent game at Bath, where he gave away several penalties early in the second half. Watching from the touchline until the last half hour last weekend confirmed his theory that there is enough threat in the Gloucester team to halt the recent poor run of results. "We're trying to get more expansive in midfield and stretch play out wide a bit more," he said. "We've got plenty of very capable backs who can tear teams apart. In the first half Lesley (Vainikolo) was battering people out of the way, which showed what he can do if we can get him into some space."
