Simpson-Daniel made his Gloucester debut in 2001 |
Gloucester winger James Simpson-Daniel believes they can use Sunday's win over Bath as a springboard for the season. He told BBC Gloucestershire: "We're getting close to how we want to play. There are still some errors but we put ourselves in good positions. "Sometimes in the past we've peaked too soon and tailed off towards the end of the season, but there's nothing wrong with getting the cobwebs out now. "I say it each year but we have a squad of 28-30 that can really push on." Simpson-Daniel's two tries on Sunday took his tally to 87 in 181 appearances for Gloucester. He is currently contracted until 2011, and after getting married in the summer, has no thought of leaving Gloucester at this stage. "I love it here. This is my tenth season but I can't say I'll always be here because I just don't know," he said. "I like the loyalty of the fans, who are with you through good and bad. I just want to continue to play well, and for things to be right contract-wise for me and the family. I enjoy being part of the club and I'm happy at the moment." Round two of the Premiership takes Gloucester to London Irish on Sunday, and a possibility of facing former Cherry and White fly-half Ryan Lamb. Lamb left for the Exiles in the summer but he endured an indifferent debut against Saracens last Saturday. Sunday's match is a challenge that Simpson-Daniel is already relishing: "Irish have top four potential and will be out to put in a big performance in front of their home crowd. It'll be a huge ask for us."
