Qera joined Gloucester from Pertemps Bees |
Gloucester flanker Akapusi Qera has had an operation after damaging his knee playing for Fiji. Qera, who came third in the Premiership's player of the season awards, had surgery in London to repair his anterior cruciate ligament. It is not known how long Qera, who joins fellow forward Gareth Delve on the sidelines, will be out of action. "To lose him to an injury of this significance is an obvious blow," coach Dean Ryan told the club's website. "We have an outstanding squad and it provides opportunities for others to stake their claims for selection." The loss of Qera follows news that Delve will also have an operation on his knee. Gloucester expect Delve to be out for around six months but Ryan said he is waiting for news on how long Qera's absence will be. "To be without him and Gareth Delve because of similar injuries is extremely disappointing for us but both will be in great hands at the club and we wish them all the best for their recoveries," he said.
