Gloucester number eight Gareth Delve will have surgery on his left knee to assess the damage to his anterior cruciate ligament. The Welshman is likely to be out for a number of weeks and will miss the start of the 2008/09 season. Delve, 25, made 20 appearances last season after his summer move from Bath. "This injury is obviously a setback to him and the club but I have no doubts he will be back in Gloucester colours next season," said coach Dean Ryan. | Gareth has drive, determination and a willingness to succeed Gloucester coach Dean Ryan |
"Gareth is a tremendous individual and an outstanding player - someone we wanted to build around for the future," added Ryan. "He has drive, determination and a willingness to succeed and I am sure that he will come through his recovery." Meanwhile, flanker Akapusi Qera will see a specialist in London on Monday to determine the extent of his knee injury.
