Meehan is in his fifth season at Bath since arriving from Stade Francais |
Bath head coach Steve Meehan has said new fly-half Sam Vesty has impressed since arriving from rivals Leicester in the summer. The 29-year-old scored 17 points on his Premiership debut for Bath at Leeds last Saturday as the west country side ran out 32-16 winners. "Sam's really slotted in very well," Meehan told BBC Radio Bristol. "He kicked some points at the weekend, he scored a try, defended well and he's enjoying our system of play." Vesty is currently occupying the berth normally taken by Springbok Butch James who returned from the Tri-Nations injured. | 606: DEBATE |
James, who has a damaged right shoulder, is due to have two scans next week to determine how long he will be on the sidelines for. Meehan added: "As a result of his performance, training and attitude last week, Sam won the award for player of the week. "I was always pretty confident that he'd slot in and he could deliver for us and he's done that so far."
