Trego captained Somerset in their recent tour match against Pakistan |
Somerset's Peter Trego believes they are the form side going into their CB40 semi-final match against Essex. The 29-year-old all-rounder hit a career-best 147 in Somerset's final group match to set up a home draw. "I think we are the best one-day side in the country it's pretty fair to say," Trego told BBC Somerset. "It's all about seeing it through and having the nerve on the day. But we've got a big semi-final coming up before we even think about winning it." Somerset won 10 of their 12 CB40 group matches, including a humiliating 249-run defeat of Glamorgan in their final limited-overs run out before their semi-final. The Taunton-based county were also runners-up in the T20 competition for the second successive year in August but Trego believes winning one trophy will lead to many more. "Every time we seem to come second it spurs us on," he said. "I've no doubt that when we do crack that win a string of wins will follow. It's just getting that one under our belts."
