| Wednesday, 27 November, 2002, 20:37 GMT Regional row rumbles on ![]() Cobner favours a move to four regional sides The working party charged with finding a new club structure for Welsh club rugby next season meets again on Thursday night amid fears that there will not be a decision this side of Christmas. Welsh Rugby Union director of rugby Terry Cobner is due to present his plans on 5 December and will recommend four regional sides. The top clubs are understood to favour five provincial teams, though, based on: A semi-professional, 12-team premier division would play below this structure. The working party is thought to be having difficulty with issues surrounding contracts of those players who fail to make the cut for regional teams. Another WRU EGM is expected in January, when the final proposal will be voted on by the 239 member clubs. |
