Leicester booked a Heineken Cup semi-final clash with Toulouse after a comprehensive victory over Leinster at a packed Lansdowne Road. The Tigers controlled the game from start to finish and easily set up a tie against their great French rivals.
Ollie Smith and Daryl Gibson grabbed a try apiece while Andy Goode rounded off a fine game by kicking 19 points.
Leinster could only muster a couple of David Holwell penalties and a late try from centre Shane Horgan.
Leicester, aiming for an unprecedented third Heineken Cup title, became the first English side to ever win a Cup quarter-final away from home.
They are also going for their third English Premiership-Heineken Cup "double".
The Tigers started and finished the first half well on top as their forwards dominated all facets of play, particularly destroying Leinster's scrum.
Only a scrambling Leinster defence kept the Tigers out until the 12th minute, when Goode floated over a simple penalty.
 | We really raised ourselves - if we can do that again and have the same sort of discipline and mental toughness we have a chance against Toulouse |
That was matched by his opposite number Holwell following a rare Leinster break-out in the 18th minute.
The home side did remarkably well to keep Leicester at bay until Goode rifled over a second penalty in the 33rd minute.
Five minutes later, the Leinster defence was split whencentre Smith dummied Felipe Contepomi on the right to sprint over.
Goode converted and added his third penalty right on half-time after he was tackled late by Ciaran Potts, who was yellow-carded.
The second half mirrored the first, with the streetwise Tigers pack controlling the pace of the game and Goode dictating territory.
Lewis Moody and Shane Horgan challenge for possession |
The end came for Leinster just after Holwell knocked over a penalty in the 56th minute. Straight from the restart, Lewis Moody got his hands on the ball before off-loading to former All Black Gibson, who sped to the line.
Goode converted again to leave Leinster's Cup hopes in ruins.
The Tigers fly-half landed a fabulous drop goal with 10 minutes remaining before Horgan barged his way over at the posts for Leinster, Holwell converting.
