The home side did remarkably well to keep Leicester at bay until Goode rifled over a second penalty in the 33rd minute.

Five minutes later, the Leinster defence was split whencentre Smith dummied Felipe Contepomi on the right to sprint over.

Goode converted and added his third penalty right on half-time after he was tackled late by Ciaran Potts, who was yellow-carded.

The second half mirrored the first, with the streetwise Tigers pack controlling the pace of the game and Goode dictating territory.

The end came for Leinster just after Holwell knocked over a penalty in the 56th minute.

Straight from the restart, Lewis Moody got his hands on the ball before off-loading to former All Black Gibson, who sped to the line.

Goode converted again to leave Leinster's Cup hopes in ruins.

The Tigers fly-half landed a fabulous drop goal with 10 minutes remaining before Horgan barged his way over at the posts for Leinster, Holwell converting.
