Betsen defends Abbott challenge
Serge Betsen charges towards Stuart Abbott
Biarritz and France flanker Serge Betsen has insisted his trip on Wasps' Stuart Abbott was an accident.

Betsen could find himself suspended for the start of next month's Six Nations after being cited by Wasps.

Abbott suffered a broken leg and is expected to miss the rest of the season as a result of the incident.

"I didn't intend to do anyone any harm - I'm really sorry for him. A tough sanction would not be fair," Betsen told French newspaper L'Equipe.

Betsen caught Abbott during Biarritz's 18-15 Heineken Cup win against Wasps on Saturday, 15 Otober.

The European Rugby Cup (ERC) has confirmed that it is gathering evidence to investigate Wasps' complaint.
