Toulouse booked an all-French Heineken Cup semi-final clash against Biarritz, after dismissing Edinburgh on Saturday. The French champions started superbly with number eight Christian Labit grabbing the game's opening try.
The Scots fought back well and were just three points down at half-time, when Marcus Di Rollo darted over.
But four second-half penalties and late scores from full-back Clement Poitrenaud and Vincent Clerc sealed the win and sent Edinburgh crashing out.
The home side came out firing and Labit led from the front, making ground at every opportunity.
Edinburgh worked hard to stifle the French home support and reaped their reward when Di Rollo cut a fine line to dive over.
But poor discipline ultimately let the visitors down and Toulouse romped home easily when Poitrenaud and Clerc crossed to seal a crucial victory.
