Whitehaven's former New Zealand rugby league international Motu Tony has joined Nottingham on a one-month trial.

The 29-year-old Samoan has won 18 international caps and was part of the victorious Tri-Nations side of 2005.

Director of rugby Glenn Delaney said: "He has had an extremely successful career in RL playing for his country and in the Super League.

"He is making the transition to playing union. It's not a completely foreign game as he had played as a youngster."

Tony has played the New Zealand Warriors, Brisbane Broncos, Castleford Tigers and Hull FC.
