Chiefs make plans for promotion

Pete Drewett
Drewett's Exeter currently lie second in National League One

Exeter director of rugby Pete Drewett has said the Chiefs are making plans to spend next season in either National League One or the Premiership.

Exeter currently lie five points behind National One leaders Leeds, who have lost their last two games.

"We've got to plan as though we're going into the Premiership," Drewett told BBC Spotlight.

"We've got to make sure we've got everything in place to do that. We have to plan for both eventualities."

Drewett added: "Equally the Championship is going got be different next year so we've got to plan accordingly for that, so ," he added.

"It's a day-to-day process and each game that we win will make it more interesting, so a lot of work will go into it."

However, Drewett said no one at the club will be getting carried away at the prospect of promotion to the top flight.

It is likely that the Chiefs will need to win all of their remaining six fixtures, starting with Saturday's trip to Moseley which also doubles as the semi-final of the National Trophy.

"You can't look to far ahead, you have to concentrate on the here and now," said Moseley.

"All we can concentrate on is doing a great job on Saturday at Moseley."
