Yapp has come out of retirement to play in the World Cup Sevens |
Worcester's Jo Yapp has said England are ready for the women's World Cup Sevens in Dubai. England won the Dubai Sevens event in November and the team have been training at the same ground ahead of the tournament, which starts on Friday. "It can only help our preparations and make us feel more at ease," Yapp told BBC Hereford and Worcester. England, who are in Pool B alongside Japan and Russia, start their campaign against the USA on Friday morning. Yapp, who has come out of retirement for the Sevens World Cup, said England's opening fixture will be massively important. | It will be a great match to kick the tournament off with |
"They have shown they are a fit and well drilled side, so we know what to expect of them, but at the same time they know what to expect of us." The teams last met in the San Diego Sevens final when England won 17-12 in sudden death, and Yapp thinks that will give the game some added spice. "Both sides will have high expectations after such a close final in San Diego, and we both know we have got one of the toughest pools," said Yapp. "It will be a great match to kick the tournament off with." The former England XVs captain will be joined in Dubai by Worcester team mate Katherine Merchant.
