Ross Beattie has signed a two-year deal with Northampton after impressing during his short time with the club.

The 27-year-old Scottish flanker joined Saints in December from the Newport Gwent Dragons after the pack was left depleted by a host of injuries.

Beattie has played seven times for Saints although he is ineligible for the Heineken Cup clash with Toulouse.

"It's great news to be able to sign somebody of Ross' experience," said Saints coach Budge Pountney.

"Ross has a great chance to prove a point at this club and with a lot of dedication he will make that point."

Beattie added: I am very pleased to have signed a new contract with Saints.

"I have really enjoyed my last three months here and there is no other club I want to play for."
