Sean Lamont in the thick of the action for Scotland against Italy

The 24-year-old, who scored a breakaway try for Glasgow against Saints in the Heineken Cup in January, will join during the summer on a two-year deal.

"We are delighted Sean has decided to join Northampton. He has shown already this year what a raw talent his is," said head coach Budge Pountney.

Lamont will be joined at Franklin's Gardens by England under-21 lock James Percival who has signed from Worcester.

The 24-year-old, who is currently on loan at National League One side Coventry, will also join in the summer.

"James is a quality young lock who is relishing the chance to play for us," added Pountney.

Lamont started out at Rotherham before moving to Glasgow in 2003 and claimed the club's Player of the Year award in his first season.

The Perth-born player scored 12 tries in 30 matches for Glasgow last season and has scored five tries so far this campaign.

He made his international debut last year against Samoa and has earned 12 caps so far.

"He is in the mould of a big physical winger with pace with a high work rate but also proves to be very elusive on the rugby pitch," said Pountney.
