Gloucester climbed to fourth in the Premiership with victory over Worcester but for England fans the win was marred by an injury to flanker Andy Hazell. Hazell, who had been expected to start at openside in England's Six Nations opener against Wales, hobbled off after 47 minutes with a knee problem.
Gloucester's tries came from scrum-half Andy Gomarsall, Tongan Seti Kiole and prop Terry Sigley.
Matt Powell crossed for Worcester but they remain in the bottom three.
Hazell's injury will have caused concern for England coach Andy Robinson, who names his side for the Cardiff clash on Monday.
Robinson has already lost Jonny Wilkinson, Mike Tindall, Will Greenwood, Stuart Abbott, Richard Hill and Martin Corry.
But Gloucester director of rugby Nigel Melville believes Hazell will recover in time.
"He's taken a bang on his knee and will be re-assessed on Sunday. He should be fine for next Saturday - I don't think it is too serious," said Melville.
Gloucester led 21-6 at the interval after Kiole dived over in the 16th minute and Gomarsall charged an attempted clearance and gathered to score.
Henry Paul also slotted two early penalties and Duncan McRae added a late drop-goal.
But they were disrupted by Hazell's exit after the break, and both sides were reduced to 14 men when Phil Vickery and Worcester's South African hooker Andre van Niekerk received yellow cards following a brawl.
Gloucester then sent Sigley over and went in search of a bonus point for four tries but it was Worcester who crossed last when Powell touched down.
Worcester director of rugby John Brain said: "Overall, we are very disappointed. We didn't play well and we just lacked composure at vital times.
"But our destiny is still in our own hands. We have got to secure some home wins, starting with Leeds on Friday night.
"If we were to win three more matches then that would probably be job done."
