Worcester Warriors bowed out of the British and Irish Cup at the semi-final stage as they were beaten 43-27 by Bedford Blues at Goldington Road.

A much-changed Warriors scored two converted tries early on before the more experienced Blues took control.

Bedford crossed for four tries in the first half and two more in the second before Greg King got Worcester's third.

The teams are due to meet again at Sixways next weekend in the semi-final of the Championship play-offs.

Worcester Academy manager Andrew Stanley told BBC Hereford and Worcester:

"Aspects of the game at various stages went against us especially losing Joe Carlisle when he looked to be in such good form.

"But having said that, full credit to the Blues as they took their opportunities when they arose.

"We gave them opportunities in the game from turnover ball which we said we weren't going to do."
