Southern Nomads take charge in Shimmin Wilson Trophy

Southern Nomads thrashed Castletown 57-10 at King Williams College on Saturday to set up an exciting climax to the Shimmin Wilson Manx Trophy.

The victory means that the final game between Nomads and Vagabonds B will decide the title.

Rob Keelan scored four tries for the Nomads with Rob Craine (2), Steve McHugh, Harry Brereton and Jack Callaghan also crossing.

Callaghan kicked six conversions to give the southerners a two point lead.

Luke Purdy scored a consolation try for Castletown which Sam Peel converted. Peel also added a penalty.

There were contrasting fortunes for Emerging Nomads who were annihilated by Douglas B in the Shimmin Wilson Manx Bowl.

Douglas B went on the rampage at Port-e-Chee and finished up with a 131-0 victory.
