A try from rugby league convert Rikki Sheriffe handed Tynedale victory over Redruth in the dying seconds of their National One clash at Tynedale Park.

Redruth led 20-14 at the break after two tries from Owen Hambly along with two Aaron Penberthy penalties.

Tynedale kept in touch with scores from Greg Irvin, Sep Visser (2) and replacement scrum-half Matthew Outson.

Penberthy slotted two more penalties in the second-half, but the Reds failed to hold on as Sheriffe pounced.

The former Bradford Bulls winger only switched codes at the start of February, joining Premiership club Newcastle Falcons.

The 26-year-old is playing for Tynedale to get accustomed to union.
