Worcester win convincingly but fail to hit the heights
Richard Hill was bitterly disappointed with the Warriors performance
Worcester Warriors picked up the bonus-point win against visiting Esher but head coach Richard Hill was far from happy with his side's performance.
After a bright start in which they ran in two tries in the opening 14 minutes the Warriors performance dropped off.
Fly-half Joe Carlisle converted his own try after eight minutes to put the home side 7-0 in front.
Matt Kvesic then marked his full debut with the first of his two tries to put the Warriors firmly in charge.
At 14-0 up Worcester would have been looking to go on and secure the bonus point as quickly as possible but they were guilty of over-complicating matters.
Kvesic thought he was in for a second try but the move was pulled back by the referee for a forward pass while Rob Higgitt failed to capitalise on a loose Esher pass when he hacked on only to send the ball over the dead-ball line with his second touch.
Carlisle added a further penalty in the 40th minute to send the Warriors in with a comfortable half-time lead but head coach Richard Hill was clearly unhappy with his side's overall showing.
Bruce Douglas made the game safe for Worcester with their third try eight minutes after the break before Kvesic benefited from a forward drive to cross for his second score of the day.
Joe Carlisle converted both tries as Warriors opened up a 29-0 lead before they appeared to round off the afternoon in style when replacement hooker Aleki Lutui rumbled over for their fifth try of the afternoon.
Again Carlisle was successful with the conversion attempt as Worcester extended the lead to 36-0 but Esher kept going and were rewarded with a consolation try.
Simon Gaynor who was on as a replacement for lock Paul Barker crossed the Warriors line with Sam Ulph adding the extra points from the conversion.
Worcester head coach Richard Hill told BBC Hereford and Worcester: "We still haven't produced a really decent home performance and I don't know why.
"That was our challenge and our aim for today and I am disappointed that we didn't.
"We got the five tries but we were such a far superior team to Esher that that should have been a huge score today.
"I was angry at half-time again as we can turn it on for 10 minutes and then rest for 30 minutes and it's not good enough."
