Fortey is great Worcester Warriors clubman, says Hill

Worcester Warriors coach Richard Hill says experienced hooker Chris Fortey is a great talisman for the club, on and off the field.

"Chris Fortey is a very experienced man," Hill told BBC Hereford & Worcester after the veteran started Saturday's 32-3 win at Rotherham.

"He brings energy to the team and has been playing well for the A team.

"He is physically combative and gets around the park well for a hooker in his 30s," added Hill.

"He sets a great example. He and Adam Black epitomised the effort.

"He brings life to the bus on the way to the games.

"With him and Adam Black rattling in your ear you don't get any sleep.

"I could tell on the coach going up there, there was an extra buzz about the players and they turned it on at Rotherham."

Rotherham admitted they were never in the game - in every single department we outplayed them

Hill says that a longer warm-up before the game at Clifton Lane helped them enjoy a much better start.

"The players were ready," he said. "We talked all week about our starts and not performing for 80 minutes.

"There was a real good intensity all week. There was a real attitude to kick-start this season.

"We were delighted with the bonus point. We would have settled for the win, so to get the four tries was a real bonus.

"Rotherham admitted they were never in the game. In every single department we outplayed them."
