Lucs face a five-point penalty over ineligible player
Alex Davidson is in his first season as Luctonians director of rugby
Luctonians director of rugby Alex Davidson has admitted an administrative error means the club is likely to lose five National Two North league points.
Davidson told BBC Hereford and Worcester it was entirely his fault but says the squad is keen to move on.
"It is being processed now but we are likely to lose five points mainly due to my naivety of the job," he admitted.
"I remembered you could have four loanees in the squad but I forgot one has to be an England academy player."
The transgression occurred during the 21-17 win at Morley and Davidson says he and the squad have accepted that they are almost certain to be hit with a five-point deduction.
Lucs had brought in Simon Frewin on loan from Stourbridge and in their haste to ensure the deal was completed in time they overlooked the issue of the number of loan players allowed.
But Davidson said that the squad had responded to the setback magnificently when they had taken on much-fancied Fylde on Saturday 13 November.
I went into the dressing room and held both hands up

"As a motivational tool you can't get any better as on the Thursday evening I went into the dressing room and held both hands up," he told BBC Hereford and Worcester.
"I said 'Look boys I am afraid I might have cost you five points and I would be really proud if you could go out on Saturday and get those points back in a game in which we are not fancied'.
"Sure enough they fired up and got us the result," he added.
Luctonians will be looking to make further progress on Saturday 20 November when they head to the Lake District to take on Kendal.
Davidson says given the distances involved they are leaving nothing to chance.
"We had a look at it a couple of weeks ago and so we have booked a hotel in Lancaster," he said.
"We are going to travel up on Friday night so hopefully we will then have only a half-hour drive to the ground on Saturday.
"Hopefully we can give ourselves every chance we possibly can to repeat the performance of last Saturday."
There will be coverage of Luctonians game at Kendal on Sport on Saturday on BBC Hereford and Worcester from 1400 GMT on Saturday 20 November.
