Cambridge survived a spirited Redruth display to pick up a bonus-point National league One victory at the Recreation Ground.

Mike Ayrton, Ben Cooper, Mark George and Billy Robinson were the try scorers for a Cambridge side who were pushed the whole way by their opponents.

The Reds crossed early through Mark Bright, with Jack Knowle and Mark Richards touching down after the break.

But second-placed Cambridge held on to secure their ninth win of the season.

The defeat leaves the Reds languishing at the wrong end of the National One table, where they remain second-bottom.
