Boss Mike Rayer keeps Bedford Blues grounded

Bedford Blues boss Mike Rayer is remaining cautious about his side's prospects this season.

After only two defeats the Blues sit second in the Championship table.

Rayer told BBC Three Counties Radio: "We're not getting carried away, we've obviously played most of the sides in the top four or five at our place.

"We know it's going to be tougher in the second half of the season, but we're delighted we've got the points on the board so far."

Rotherham and Worcester are the only two sides to beat Rayer's men in the current campaign and the Yorkshire club are the visitor's to Goldington Road on Saturday.

The Titans pipped Bedford 19-16 at Clifton Lane in September, but since then the Blues have lost just one in eight games.

"We're at home and it's a much wider pitch than what they play on, hopefully we can exploit that," Rayer added.

"They've got a very good pack, they're very well organised, but as I keep saying, we've got a good record at Goldington Road and we want to continue that."

The Blues will be without back-rower Ben Lewitt and hooker Joe Clark because of injury, while loosehead prop Robin Boot has joined Shelford on loan for a month to boost his match fitness.
