Bristol loss to London Welsh hurts captain Iain Grieve

Bristol captain Iain Grieve says the manner of their 39-14 defeat by London Welsh is particularly hard to take.

Bristol were just four points down 10 minutes into the second half but capitulated to be outscored by five tries to one.

"I've been at Bristol for quite a long time and to be outscored like that is a kick in the face," Grieve told BBC Radio Bristol.

"I'm passionate about playing rugby and that hurts a lot."

Thanks to the boot of fly-half Nicky Little, Bristol were still in contention at the break with the score at 18-9.

Then captain Iain Grieve went over for his second try in two matches to bring Paul Hull's men within four points.

"We competed well for 50 minutes and it was all there to play for," said Hull.

"But then really we struggled to get out of our half and they played good field position and eventually the dam burst and the floodgates opened.

We're lying in the bottom area of the league and they're flying so it was always going to be a tough ask

"But you've got to remember they're second in the league and I think they're the form team at the moment.

"We're lying in the bottom area of the league and they're flying so it was always going to be a tough ask."

Bristol's next two fixtures are against sides below them in the table, Birmingham & Solihull and Plymouth Albion.

"We've got something to look forward to and we mentioned it in the huddle after the game," added Hull.

"Let's take the disappointment from this match and take it forward and it would be nice to get two wins at home on the bounce."
