Ealing (in white) lost for the first time this season |
Jersey produced their best performance of the season to demote Ealing Trailfinders from top spot in National League 2 and go second themselves. Jersey stormed into a 10-0 lead, helped by a try from debutant David Doherty, but only led 13-8 at the break. Despite playing against a strong wind, further tries from Nick Trower, man-of-the-match Nathan Hannay and a penalty try secured the win and bonus point. Jersey are now just two points behind new league leaders Southend. It was the perfect antidote to last week's rare defeat, away to Richmond, and despite conceding tries to Philip Chesters and Sungo Kuwana, it was an outstanding performance to beat previously unbeaten Ealing. Newcomer Doherty, formerly of Sale, told BBC Jersey he enjoyed his first taste of action for the club. "It really was a special game, and I'm really excited by the way the boys played in the second half," he said. "My aim is to do my best to get Jersey to win the championship and progress through to the next league."
