Jersey beat Lydney to stay top of National Two South last Saturday |
Jersey Rugby Club's success on the pitch is being replicated off it, according to chairman Bill Dempsey. Jersey are currently top of National Two South by two points, having won all six of their league games so far. "The money at the moment is going OK," Dempsey told BBC Jersey. "A lot of hard work has gone in over the last 10 to 15 years, so the foundations are there. "We're very fortunate that we have escaped the downturn market in Jersey rugby and things are going well." Having gained promotion into National Two South last season, Jersey have been in fine form, beating Lydney 32-25 in their latest match. But Dempsey warned: "We're only six games in and we still have 24 games of this league season to go, and we have quite a lot of injuries already. "The knocks are getting harder, the game is getting faster and certainly more physical. "There's a lot more people on the pitch now who are 16/17 stone, so there is a big big change."
