Southend coach Andy Holloway says his side can get better, despite climbing up to second in the National League Two South table.
The Essex side thrashed Newbury 100-0 on Saturday, their biggest win since joining the National League set-up nine years ago.
But Holloway told BBC Essex: "We haven't really hit top gear.
"We've probably been at about 60 or 70%. Everybody knows we can play much better than that."
Southend have marked themselves out as promotion contenders by winning five and drawing one of their opening seven matches to lie just a point behind league-leaders Ealing Trailfinders, but Holloway is not allowing himself to get carried away.
"You've got teams that are mid-table that have had a tough start to the season, and you've got teams in the top third who haven't really had a very tough challenge yet," he added.
"Give it a couple more weeks and then we'll know how its shaping up."
Southend travel to Canterbury this Saturday knowing that victory will take them to the top of the table if Ealing fail to beat third-placed Jersey.
