Phillips took 34 wickets in all cricket last season

Essex spin bowler Tim Phillips has agreed a contract extension that will keep him at Chelmsford until the end of the 2011 season.

The 29-year-old left-armer took 20 wickets in nine County Championship matches last season.

"I am looking to build on last season where I played good cricket and stayed relatively injury free," said Phillips.

"I now want to progress this through to next season and contribute as much as I can to the team."

He added: "Promotion back to Division One is an objective that the squad is fully focused on and we believe this is more than achievable with the players we have throughout the team."
