Richard Hill will abandon Worcester rotation policy

Hill says some of his players looked 'rusty' against Moseley

Worcester Warriors' head coach Richard Hill says he will abandon his squad rotation policy for the game against Bristol at Sixways this Friday.

Hill has tried to make sure his squad have had time to impress him, as his side have won their first six games.

He told BBC Hereford & Worcester: "The starting line-up for the next game will be a very strong side.

"I've had a good look at them and the pecking order is now beginning to sort itself out."

Hill added: "There are still a few positions that are close, but I think it is clear who is number one in most of them, and that will be reflected in the selection this week.

I'm going to have to go away and think about how we can achieve more consistent performances

"Players do come in and out of form, but at the moment there are 10 or 12 players I would ink in on the teamsheet."

Hill included former skipper Pat Sanderson and Spanish wing Oriol Ripol for the faltering win at Mosley, but he says they both looked a little rusty.

"Pat did look a bit ring-rusty and he has a couple of knocks that may set him back a bit; he did not establish himself as he would have liked," Hill said.

"Oriol was playing his first game in this team, and there were one or two unforced errors, and maybe the experiments didn't quite work.

"It is taking a while for the players to get used to the new style of play - it can get frustrating and I'd like it to happen quicker, but we just have to keep working at it.

"It will be hard work, and we will keep on to the players and helping them, but it will also be a case of me having to go to a more consistent selection policy sooner than I was anticipating.

"If we were playing really well and I was chopping and changing the selection, then I could keep going with it, but we probably need a little more consistency.

"It's up to me now to think that, after six matches, we haven't clicked as quickly as I would have liked.

"Now I'm going to have to go away and think about how we can achieve more consistent performances."

There will be full commentary on Worcester v Bristol on BBC Hereford and Worcester on Friday, 8 October (2000 BST) on 104fm and online.
