Kidderminster Harriers midfielder Matty Blair says his side were unlucky to lose 2-0 to Crawley as he finally made his first start.
The former Telford winger, who had made 10 substitute appearances for Harriers, was brought off after 61 minutes.
He told BBC Hereford and Worcester: "The gaffer told me before the game to just go out and do what I am good at.
"We worked really hard against Crawley and feel we should have got something out of the game."
He added: "We can take a lot of credit out of the game, we went there with our heads held high, and worked so hard."
Blair, who has also played for Redditch, says he thinks he may have impressed enough to keep his place.
"Hopefully I did enough for the gaffer to pick me against Gateshead on Tuesday," he said.
"I know I am capable of playing for the full 90 and am happy to run at full-backs.
"We are a new team, put together in the summer, we are doing OK, and could be up there at the end of the season."
