Cambridge reeling from Daniel Legge heart scare

Cambridge boss Bob Crooks says his side struggled to focus against Barking, after learning about a potential heart problem for back-row Daniel Legge.

The National One outfit went down 28-16 at Barking after hearing Legge, 26, could be suffering from a heart murmur.

Crooks told BBC Radio Cambridgeshire: "That's going to impact on you, and there's another issue that I can't mention that happened Saturday morning.

"The squad have taken two big bangs. I think that affected us mentally."

Saturday's defeat was Cambridge's first of the season, a string of mistakes and a failure to break down the hosts in the second period ultimately costing them.

We made too many errors - sloppy hands, awful contact management. We've got no excuses for that performance

Despite being rattled by the news of Legge's potential problem, Crooks insisted there was no excuse for the result.

"We're a far better side than that in all facets," he said.

"I worried about us in the warm-up. We looked a bit flat, a bit out of it.

"We made too many errors - sloppy hands, awful contact management. We've got no excuses for that performance. It wasn't good enough."
