Launceston face an anxious wait to find out whether the Rugby Football Union will grant them a playing licence for the 2010/11 season. The club put its limited company, Launceston Rugby Football Club, into voluntary liquidation last week. On Tuesday, representatives from Launceston attended a meeting at Twickenham regarding the club's future. The RFU are now in the process of deciding whether Launceston's new business plan can be accepted. RFU chairman of governance Peter Baines said: "The meeting was positive and constructive and we have asked for clarification on several matters arising from the detailed business plan presented. "Once this has been received, the RFU board of directors will then consider all the information and decide whether Launceston Rugby Club should be granted a licence to play in the 2010/11 season." The limited company was put into voluntary liquidation after the club failed to reach an agreement with its major creditor, HM Customs and Revenue, to avoid being put into receivership. Launceston were founded in 1948 and have been at their Polson Bridge ground since 1970.
