Dawe led Albion to eighth in the Championship last term |
Plymouth Albion chairman of rugby Graham Dawe is hopeful of signing Launceston number eight Sam Hocking. Dawe has targeted the 25-year-old as he builds his squad for next season's Championship campaign. Dawe told BBC Sport: "I am very hopeful that Sam will join the squad, although nothing has been confirmed. "I'm targeting a couple of other players as well, but at the moment we're just really pleased with the players we've already got." Hocking spent a brief period on loan at Brickfields from Launceston earlier this year. The majority of Albion's squad have re-signed in recent weeks, with 27-year-old prop Martin Rice the latest. Dawe also hopes to confirm the signing of Canadian back-row Aaron Carpenter in the coming weeks. He said: "Aaron will be a Plymouth Albion player next season assuming we can get the paperwork completed, as we need a work permit before we can go any further." Carpenter, 27, spent last season at Coventry in the Championship and is a member of the Canada national squad.
