Junior Fatialofa issues Bristol warning

Favourites tag means nothing - Fatialofa

Junior Fatialofa insists Bristol will not underestimate Championship play-off semi-final opponents London Welsh.

The teams meet at the Memorial Stadium on Friday, with the winners going on to face either Exeter or Bedford in a two-leg final.

Bristol have already beaten Welsh twice this season.

But Fatialofa told BBC Radio Bristol: "We're not taking anything for granted, The two toughest games we have had this year were against London Welsh."

Bristol won 28-23 at The Memorial Stadium in September and completed the double with a 28-3 victory at Old Deer Park in February.

"We really pretty much had a 'get out of jail card' in the first game at home and, away, the scoreline did not reflect just how tough the game was," the 29-year-old centre added.

As a team we're not going to hold anything back

"They play an exciting brand of rugby, they're well coached and they're an all-round pretty good rugby team."

Bristol go into the match on a high after thumping Cornish Pirates 60-15 last weekend but Fatialofa knows that will count for nothing come kick-off on Friday.

"It's a sudden death game and the winner takes all," he said.

"As a team we're not going to hold anything back. We might not have a job come Monday next week so we need to put everything into this game and not look too far ahead of ourselves.

"The formbook goes out the window. It will all be even keel come Friday night.

"We're hoping the crowd will get behind us and create the sort of atmosphere the players can thrive on and produce an 80-minute performance we can be proud of."
