Luctonians scored eight tries in a convincing win at Ampthill |
Luctonians earned themselves a place in the National League Three play-offs after a 53-0 win at Ampthill on the final day of the season. The Herefordshire club's chairman Dave Burke told BBC Hereford & Worcester they had deserved the victory. "It was a cracking win although Ampthill left out a few players due to their Twickenham final next week. "But we picked up a few knocks so we'll see what happens over the next few days as we look forward to Stockport." Luctonians went into the game at the champions-elect knowing nothing less than a win would do if there were to overhaul Hinckley in the race for second place in National League Three (Midlands). Despite numerous changes to the home side's starting XV, all bar one of their squad had played first-team rugby this season. Luctonians ran in eight tries in total and so earned their play-off trip to Stockport, who finished runners-up in National League Three (North). That match will be played on Saturday 8 May.
