Nottingham's Glenn Delaney wary of physical Doncaster

It's nice to have competition...we're going to be leaving good players out of the matchday 22

Director of rugby Glenn Delaney says Nottingham must expect a tough physical test away at Doncaster Knights in the Championship play-offs on Saturday.

Doncaster only scraped into the play-offs, but Delaney told BBC Radio Nottingham: "They're a good team and a very aggressive team.

"They've struggled with injuries all season but if they play their top side they'll be a handful."

The Green & Whites beat Exeter 20-9 in their opening Pool B match on Sunday.

Another win for Nottingham could see them take firm control of their pool with four play-off games remaining before the semi-final stage.

And Delaney says three more wins may well be enough to confirm a place in the last four.

"The reality is that you've got to win an away game somewhere or maybe two," Delaney said.

"We're targeting to keep our momentum going. We want to keep ourselves away from the scrap, and if we keep playing rugby the way we are, I think we've got a very good chance to get to the semis."

Nottingham will be bolstered by the return of a number of their England Under-20 players, including Sam Harrison, Callum Green and Tom Casson.

"I'm always excited by seeing these kids come back," Delaney said.

"And it's nice to have competition for places. We've always been a club that's had a great starting fifteen and a good bench. Whereas now we're going to be leaving good players out of the matchday 22."
