Douglas were knocked out of the RFU Vase 23-11 by Whitehaven at Port-e-Chee Meadow on Saturday. Bryn Snellgrove kicked two penalties to give the Manx side an early advantage before tough tackling Whitehaven took control to lead 13-6 at half-time. A Mike Hebden try in the second-half gave Douglas hope but in the end Whitehaven proved to be too strong. Meanwhile Ramsey beat Sourthern Nomads 35-19 to reach the semi-finals of the Cheshire Plate. The Northerners delivered an assured performance and progress to the last four 85-22 on aggregate. Castletown moved away from the bottom of the Shimmin Wilson Shield table in some style with a 32-10 won over Vagabonds B at Glencrutchery Road.
