Douglas B won the first silverware of the Manx rugby season on Saturday, when they beat Castletown 23-7 to clinch the BSM Manx Plate. The sides were tied 7-7 at half-time after Douglas's James Stamp cancelled out Nic Kieswetter earlier score. In the second-half Gwyn Davies gave Douglas the advantage with a well-taken try which John Hill again converted. Hill then kicked two penalties and a drop-goal before Joe Whitelegg added a long-range penalty to seal the win. Meanwhile, Vagabonds lost 40-14 at second-placed Bowdon in South Lancashire/Cheshire Division One. The result leaves Vagabonds level on points with the bottom two sides in the division. In Division Two, Douglas drew 10-10 with visitors Marple at Port-e-Chee. Elsewhere, Ramsey set themselves up for a Cheshire Plate semi-final as they emphatically beat Southern Nomads 50-3 in the first leg of their quarter-final.
