Up to seven of the first team are unavailable for the match |
Third-placed Guernsey could be without up to seven of their first team as they prepare to face second-spot London Irish Amateur in London Two South West. Nick Barton, captain Simon Sharrott, Blair Campbell, Cameron Pattern and Jim Elliott are among the island side's doubts for the Footes Lane clash. Club captain David McGall said: "It's a rearranged fixture and the team is heavily depleted. "Players on the fringes are really going to have to step up to the mark." | Two years ago we were pushing them all over the park and that's simply not the case now Guernsey captain David McGall |
He added: "It's a massive game for these lads to really show what they're made of." Irish edged Guernsey 14-12 in their previous meeting this season. "They're a formidable side, they're a young side as well, we've been playing against them for the last three or four seasons and they've been up and down the leagues with us," McGall said. "They've matured, they've added some bulk and some power to their pack... two years ago we were pushing them all over the park and that's simply not the case now." The match is on 6 February with kick off at 1300 GMT.
