The game saw the return of Guernsey's captain Simon Sharrott |
Guernsey rugby club beat Bognor 21-11 in the London Two South West division at Footes Lane. The game saw the return of captain and influential prop Simon Sharrott after he recovered from a knee injury. Sharrott said: "I was a little bit rusty out there but the boys did the job and its the next building block, two more points for the league. "Hopefully it will give us momentum for next weekend when it's another big game away to London Cornish." | We didn't let off, we stuck it out and we grinded out the win and that's the most important thing |
He said: "There's a good team spirit at the minute and it's all go so we'll hit training on Tuesday, build on things we didn't do very well today. "I didn't think our defence was very good, we let off a few tackles, we were slipping up too high so we'll be looking to mend that." Bognor twice stopped Guernsey just short of the line before coming back to put pressure on the Sarnians for the last five minutes of the game. "It's swings and roundabouts, we coped well under pressure, I thought our defence held up in the last five and that's important," Sharrott said. "We didn't let off, we stuck it out and we grinded out the win and that's the most important thing."
